Yvonne N Pierre | Writer, Producer, Director, Advocate
Yvonne N. Pierre is a devoted mom of two boys, ages 19 and 9. She always had a passion for developing works in the entertainment industry (i.e. film, books) that inspire, inform and uplift. Yvonne’s youngest son was diagnosed with Down syndrome after birth and she redirected her attention and primary efforts towards the special needs community.
ADVOCACY: In November 2004, she launched “Have Ya Heard the Abilities of Downs” which she later dropped to simply “HYH Online.” In 2007, Yvonne launched an online radio show self-entitled “The Yvonne Pierre Show” an on-demand talk radio show dedicated to informing and inspiring listeners on topics ranging from self-improvement to parenting a special needs child. The show has received nearly 100 thousand downloads. In 2011, Yvonne launched HYH Rise Awards to celebrate and give recognition to those who are making a difference in the Down syndrome community – parents, self-advocates, nonprofits, for-profits and individuals. The awards have received over 13-thousand voters worldwide. In October of 2011, Rise an annual eMagazine dedicated to further give recognition to the Rise award nominees and recipients. In April 2012, Yvonne will direct and produce her first stage production called “Then You Stand” to further spread Down syndrome awareness.
FILM WORKS: Yvonne Pierre has worked on various film projects. In 2006, she worked with Atlanta TV producers Tracy Crews (NeoSoul) and Glenifer Wade (Extraordinary People) as a script editor, script supervisor and associate producer. In 2011, she worked as a Casting Assistant with Christopher Gray Casting on a Lion’s Gate film called, “What to Expect When You’re Expecting” featuring Jennifer Lopez, Cameron Diaz, Chris Rock and a list of other notable actors – due to release May 2012.

PUBLISHING: In 2008. EDUCATION: Yvonne Pierre holds two associate degrees in Accounting and Business Management, a bachelor’s degree in Marketing and an Executive MBA and various workshops in film production. Yvonne N. Pierre is a writer, director, producer and advocate and has been featured in various blogs, magazines and a guest on over 20 radio shows.
